#666 – Scottish typology images

Two different headgears, five minutes apart.

Barony is much easier to photograph, its sheer size make it relatively easy to photograph, although to get far enough away means you have to shoot from the south and wander into some undergrowth. But it stands in splendid isolation apart from various boards explaining the history and what can best be described as a ‘mining themed entrance arch’.

Highhouse is a lot smaller, probably a third of the height at most, and it’s hemmed in by an industrial unit on one side and woodland on the other. A side on view from one side is obscured by a palisade fence, and the other requires venturing into the undergrowth and a sub optimal lens choice as I was very close. But this has been the case with many of the headgears I’ve visited – the disparity in sizes and foregrounds plus the space available around the structures to photograph has meant some inconsistencies in perspectives.

So, two more to add to the 22 I already have! It starts getting harder now in terms of distance to travel, and / or getting side on to those that are left.

I’ll post the latest typology soon!
