As I often do, I’ve inverted this reflection because, well it just works better this way in my opinion. I like the way the texture of the fluffy clouds gives way to the lumpy asphalt. This was taken on my phone, the grittiness of the puddle and the textures elsewhere make up for some of the lack of detail that is sometimes seen in phone images. As I took this very close to the ground, being able to see a large image on the screen was invaluable. I often use the phone as a form of Polaroid to see what a photo looks like before using my camera (I know it’s slightly superfluous on digital but it’s the size of the screen that makes it a useful tool), but sometimes the phone image is acceptable so I don’t even take go on to take a photo with the camera.

This though is one that I did take with the camera. Not the easiest of pictures to take, but having a flip out screen and live view made it easier than it would have done a few years ago when it would basically have meant lying on the pavement and looking through the viewfinder. That van was owned by someone doing some building work next door so was likely to have been there all day, and I wasn’t going to be there all day so had to include it in the picture. I don’t know if it adds anything for the image, but there was no way of composing it out.

The shape of this is like an eye, and I’ve kept the photograph the right way round as it is almost like a glimpse of something you’d see as you walked by out of the corner of your eye.
The last one is my favourite one!

Thanks Katriina! I wasn’t that bothered about it at first but after a few months I came back to it and I like it a lot more now!
