My last photo of the front of the mill was taken from further away than the ones in my last post, but made a feature of the corner markings. I’ve processed all the photos the same way, making the grass really dark and ‘muddy’, and bringing out the whites of the field markings. It was a grey, murky day and I feel this captured the mood best.

The Bridgewater Canal runs behind the mill, and the towpath runs along the perimeter fence. I decided to make a feature of the barbed wire and spikes of the palisade fence, with the chimney thrown out of focus in the background.

Another view of the chimney. The chimney has been reduced in height significantly, but the ‘Butts’ name in the brickwork remains and can just be seen in this view looking up from the trees at the side of the mill.

The boiler house is in a derelict state behind the mill, but can be photographed by sticking the lens through the fence. The mill is listed, so presumably that includes the adjacent structures like this which would probably explain why they’ve not been demolished (yet).
