Merger – sat beached and rusting in Glasson Dock near Lancaster, this little dredger was my first experiment with ND grad filters. The results weren’t bad, just not as good as they could have been. I’ve not been back since and it doesn’t appear on the most Google Earth views, so I won’t get the chance to have another go.

Sarsia – my second attempt with ND Grads! I’d say it was altogether more successful, although there is very limited scope here for different compositions.

Telamon – a much bigger ship than the previous two, or at least it was once! The front half of the ship has long since broken away, just leaving the middle and stern beached in the small inlet in Lanzarote.

Duke of Lancaster – the first one is one of my favourite photographs. I took it in 2009, not long before the owners commissioned various graffiti artists to use it as their canvas. More recently it has been painted black, so this is another scene which cannot be recreated.

Forton Lake Wrecks – a business trip to the south coast meant a quick visit to see this collection of rusting hulks near Gosport.

PS Ryde – I thought this sad old paddle steamer was well beyond saving, but I’ve recently read that it’s been bought and is to be restored – I can only wish them the very best of luck and hope they see it through. See the website of the PS Ryde Trust here.
