#673 – Foxfield Colliery Revisit 2

So while my primary reason for visiting was to get photographs for my typology, I did want to see a bit more of the site. Most of the original site is now a more modern industrial estate and yards, but as well as the two headgears and sidings, the railway also own a few smaller buildings and the winding house. Restoration is underway on the smaller upcast and a new toilet block has been built, and there are plans to formally open it up eventually to visitors so that there is a destination for the trains to run to (trains only run there a few times a year). It’s not a small project but equally it’s not a huge, mission impossible like Chatterley Whitfield where many of the volunteers were previously at.

Thank you to all the Saturday morning volunteers who let me wander round the site asking daft questions!

I decided to take a few different perspectives, as is my normal M.O. I liked all the different angles in this view.

A window shot – I can never resist!
