Sorry, and I’m not trying to blow my own trumpet here, but in my opinion, the best way of using HDR is with a degree of subtlety. This photo of Grove Rake Mine is a merge of three bracketed images, Photomatix was used to balance out the exposure between inside and outside. In other words, it’s allowed the picture to retain some detail in both shadow and highlights, but without going mad.
