A fairly exhausting schedule recently has seen me visit beautiful Switzerland 4 times in as many months. One of the bonuses is staying in Lucerne, a small city that somehow manages to be big at the same time. Lake Lucerne is home to a small fleet of Paddle Steamers and these are slowly being brought into service after their winter lay up. Uri has moved from the dockyard and was seen moored up by at the main wharf in the town.

On a previous visit, one of the steamers was in the floating dry dock, unfortunately I can’t identify which one it is.

The Wilhelm Tell was withdrawn from service in 1970 and was sold for use as a floating restaurant on the north side of Lucerne’s lakefront. http://www.schiffrestaurant.ch/en/

As I travel on business not pleasure, I’ve not had the opportunity to go on one, but I’m hoping that will change at some point!!
